Comedian Lee Su Ji recently became embroiled in a controversy regarding political bias and trivialization due to a satirical video on her YouTube channel 'Hot Issue Ji'. Criticism arose after a fake documentary video titled 'Civil Servant Kim Ji Young's Iron Rice Bowl Protection' allegedly depicted protesters shouting 're-election' as 'malicious complaints'.
As the controversy escalated, the production team deleted the scene and apologized, while Lee Su Ji herself posted a handwritten apology, stating she should have been more careful as a comedian, and suspended her YouTube activities for about a month. Lee Su Ji debuted as a comedian in 2008 (SBS) and 2012 (KBS), gaining popularity through 'Hwanghae' corner on 'Gag Concert' and recently appearing on 'SNL Korea'.
Despite her apology and period of self-reflection, speculation and malicious comments targeting Lee Su Ji persisted, leading her agency to announce strong legal action. The agency stated it would pursue all civil and criminal legal measures without leniency or settlement against malicious slander, personal attacks, false information, and defamation.
