News of actress Jeon Yeo Been's upcoming drama, 'Hooking Romance,' has garnered renewed attention, coinciding with a photo of her at Gangneung beach posted on her social media in late September. This new ENA drama is slated for broadcast on ENA and release on Genie TV in the first half of 2027. In the series, Jeon Yeo Been will portray Seo Hae-yoon, a broadcast news writer for YCB.
'Hooking Romance' is directed by Lee Chang-min and written by Lee Rae. The story follows a star anchor experiencing early menopause and a rival writer who, while trying to save a low-rated broadcast, rekindle their own romantic feelings. Jeon Yeo Been's character, Seo Hae-yoon, is described as a broadcast news writer who has moved between various broadcasting stations for over a decade, often handling sensational news, but is known for protecting her juniors over her own interests. Jung Kyung-ho plays the lead anchor Na Yi-joon, and Choi Woo-jin plays rookie anchor Han Do-young.
Jeon Yeo Been previously starred as documentary director Lee Eun-jung in the 2019 JTBC Friday-Saturday drama 'Be Melodramatic.' Although 'Be Melodramatic' featured a highly anticipated cast including Chun Woo-hee, Ahn Jae-hong, and Jeon Yeo Been, its highest viewership rating was only 1.8%. Despite the ratings, the drama, which comically depicted the lives and loves of three women in their thirties, is still remembered as a 'life drama' by many, earning critical appreciation beyond its viewership numbers.
