The 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) opening ceremony is scheduled to be held on Tuesday, October 6th, 2026, at the Busan Cinema Center Roof Theatre. This major autumn film festival in Busan will run for 10 days, from October 6th to October 15th, offering a diverse range of film screenings and side events across the Busan Cinema Center, Centum City area, and Nampo-dong. The opening day will also feature a red carpet event with domestic and international actors and directors, drawing significant attention.
The official opening ceremony will commence at 6 PM, followed by the red carpet from 7 PM to 8 PM. Kim Jong-kwan's new film, 'Night and Day Are to Each Other,' an 80-minute South Korean production, will have its world premiere as the opening film, marking the festival's beginning. The Busan Cinema Center serves as the iconic central venue, hosting not only the opening ceremony but also major outdoor stage greetings and open talks.
Beyond the Busan Cinema Center, BIFF will screen a total of 316 films across 31 screens in 8 theaters, including CGV Centum City and Lotte Cinema Centum City. The opening ceremony will be live-streamed on the official BIFF website, and tips are available for checking for canceled tickets for sold-out screenings. Film enthusiasts are advised to plan their viewing routes carefully, considering travel time between the concentrated screening venues around Centum City Station.
