Recent online speculation about Girls' Generation member Yoona's marriage and pregnancy arose from a circulating photo of her with a man, seemingly celebrating a pregnancy. This image, which appeared to be a genuine wedding or pregnancy announcement, has been confirmed as an AI-generated composite, not an actual photograph.
The AI-generated image first appeared on a netizen's account in June, and there was no actual joint photoshoot or pregnancy. Yoona's agency has stated its intention to take strong legal action against the dissemination of false information and the creation/distribution of deepfakes. It has also been clarified that Yoona is currently unmarried, and previous dating rumors involving Lee Junho were denied by both parties.
Bloggers have expressed concern about the potential for AI-generated images, especially those featuring celebrities, to spread rapidly and be mistaken for real news. They noted that fabricating private situations like marriage or pregnancy can easily attract public attention, but if the 'AI-generated' disclaimer is omitted during sharing, such images can quickly transform into fake news.
