Seo Kang-jun, Kang Tae-oh, and Gong Myung: The Actor Group 5urprise's Activities and Current Status

With the recent buzz around the new actor group 'Newname,' the original actor group '5urprise,' which produced Seo Kang-jun, Gong Myung, and Kang Tae-oh, is drawing renewed attention. 5urprise established the concept of 'actor-dols' and is now frequently mentioned as a legendary lineup that has produced three leading actors.

5urprise was the first actor group launched by Fantagio in 2013, consisting of five members: Seo Kang-jun, Gong Myung, Kang Tae-oh, Lee Tae-hwan, and Yoo Il. They pursued an 'actortainer' path, focusing on acting while also engaging in music, performances, and variety shows. Notably, Seo Kang-jun won the Grand Prize at the 2025 MBC Drama Awards, and Kang Tae-oh solidified his position as a historical romance master with the MBC historical drama 'The Moon Flows in This River' in the same year.

Bloggers note that 5urprise pioneered the unprecedented format of 'actors active as idols' rather than 'singers becoming actors.' The group is cited as a prime success story in the entertainment industry, with almost all members now established as leading actors, generating significant interest in their active projects and successful careers.
