Im Siwan's Gosiwon Thriller Drama 'Hell Is Other People' Gains Renewed Attention

The OCN drama 'Hell Is Other People,' starring actor Im Siwan, initially recorded low viewership ratings during its broadcast but has since been re-evaluated as a hidden gem among thriller enthusiasts after its release on Netflix. The intense twist in the final episode and Im Siwan's acting transformation left a deep impression on viewers, leading to its continued discussion.

This 10-episode thriller, which aired from August 31 to October 6, 2019, is based on Kim Yong-ki's webtoon of the same name. Im Siwan played Yoon Jong-woo, an aspiring writer who moves to Seoul from the provinces, delicately portraying the psychological changes he experiences while encountering strange neighbors in a dilapidated gosiwon. His relationship with Seo Moon-jo, played by Lee Dong-wook, is a key element that heightens the drama's tension.

Bloggers praise 'Hell Is Other People' for intricately weaving together the confined gosiwon space, bizarre neighbors, and the protagonist's psychological transformation, going beyond a simple serial killer thriller. Viewers who binged the series on Netflix reported being deeply immersed in the story.
