The 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) is taking place from October 6 to 15, 2026, across Busan, attracting significant attention for its star-studded actor lineup. Top Korean actors such as Jo In-sung, Jung Woo-sung, Hyun Bin, Jeon Do-yeon, Seol Kyung-gu, Lee Min-ho, and Kim Go-eun are attending, alongside international stars like Michelle Yeoh and Maggie Gyllenhaal, elevating the festival's prestige. This year's BIFF is the largest since 2019, featuring 246 official selections from 59 countries and a total of 315 films.
On October 7, Jo In-sung will participate in an open talk for Lee Chang-dong's new film 'Possible Love,' joined by Jeon Do-yeon, Seol Kyung-gu, and Jo Yeo-jeong. On the same day, Hyun Bin, Jung Woo-sung, and Woo Do-hwan will greet audiences at an outdoor stage event for 'Made in Korea Season 2.' Additionally, Lee Min-ho, Kim Go-eun, Kim Min-ha, Ryu Seung-ryong, Ju Ji-hoon, and Shin Min-a are scheduled for the 'Actors' House' program, where they will share insights into their work and acting philosophy. Michelle Yeoh is visiting Busan for the first time in 15 years to receive the 'Asian Filmmaker of the Year Award,' and Maggie Gyllenhaal's debut visit to Korea is also highly anticipated.
Bloggers note that this year's BIFF is more than just a gathering of a few famous actors; it's a unique opportunity to see a large number of actors representing Korean cinema and drama. The presence of actors with significant international fanbases is expected to generate considerable interest both domestically and abroad. Beyond film screenings, the diverse programs allowing direct interaction with actors and directors are highlighted as another key appeal of the festival.
