SEVENTEEN's Mingyu Begins Alternative Military Service as Other Members Continue Enlistment

SEVENTEEN member Mingyu began his alternative military service on September 10th, marking another step in the group's ongoing period of military enlistment. This development follows other members who have already started their service, contributing to a significant phase for the popular K-pop group as they navigate their mandatory duties.

According to reports, Mingyu commenced his alternative service as a social service agent. His agency, Pledis Entertainment, requested fans to refrain from visiting his workplace. Other members have also started their service, with Vernon beginning alternative service on August 20th and Dokyeom enlisting as an active-duty soldier on September 8th. Seungkwan and Dino are scheduled to enlist together as military band members on October 26th. Notably, Jeonghan completed his alternative service in June, becoming the first SEVENTEEN member to conclude his military duty.

Local bloggers highlight that while many members are fulfilling their military obligations, not all 13 members are subject to Korean military service; Joshua, Jun, and The8 are foreign nationals, and S.Coups received a Grade 5 exemption due to a knee injury.
