During the 2026 Chuseok holiday, Seoul will host a variety of free performances and traditional cultural events from September 24th to 27th. Families can enjoy diverse programs such as traditional Korean music (gugak), samulnori, Bukcheong Saja dance, Korean dance, and pansori across various locations in Seoul without traveling far.
Key venues for these events include Unhyeongung Palace, Namsangol Hanok Village, Seoul Museum of Korean Folk Music, Hanseong Baekje Museum, and Seoul Museum of History. Free performances are also scheduled at Seoul Donhwamun Traditional Theater and Seoul Nori Madang. Notably, Hanseong Baekje Museum will offer free hands-on programs for children on September 26th, including making Haetae Bukcheong Saja, kite making, and injeolmi (rice cake) making. Major palaces such as Gyeongbokgung, Changdeokgung, Changgyeonggung, Deoksugung, and Jongmyo Shrine will also be open during the holiday period.
Bloggers advise checking the daily schedules in advance, as not all programs run throughout the entire holiday period. While most events are free, some craft and experiential programs may incur separate costs, so it is recommended to verify this beforehand. Considering museums with indoor programs is also a good option for rainy days.
