The 2026 Seoul International Fireworks Festival introduces an eve event for the first time this year, taking place over two days from September 4th to 5th around Yeouido Hangang Park. The eve event, held the day before the main festival, generated significant anticipation among citizens by setting an early festive atmosphere. The Seoul Metropolitan Government decided to hold the event approximately three weeks earlier than last year, considering the Chuseok holiday and the influx of international tourists.
The eve event on September 4th featured a 20-minute fireworks display from 8:00 PM to 8:20 PM, alongside citizen participation programs and a food truck zone. The main event on September 5th is scheduled from 8:00 PM to 9:10 PM, with teams from Korea, the USA, and the UK participating in an approximately 70-minute fireworks show. The Korean team's performance is expected to be the longest. Extensive traffic controls are anticipated around Wonhyo Bridge and Yeouido-dong Road, so public transportation is recommended.
Bloggers expressed surprise at the large crowds already present for the eve event, anticipating even greater numbers for the main festival. The eve event was seen as a 'preview' of the main show, offering a casual opportunity to enjoy fireworks after work. The theme for this year's festival is 'Your Infinite Colors,' presenting an opportunity to create special memories along the Han River at night.
