Yongnuni Oreum, a prominent volcanic cone in eastern Jeju, is once again attracting visitors after the lifting of its conservation period. It is particularly renowned for its beautiful silver grass landscapes in autumn and winter, and its gentle slopes make it an accessible and popular introductory hiking course for all ages.
The hike to the summit of Yongnuni Oreum takes approximately 15 minutes, with a full loop around its three craters requiring about 1 to 1.5 hours. The conservation period was lifted on July 1, 2023, allowing free access, and a spacious free parking lot is available at the entrance for convenience. Visitors are advised to use the restrooms near the parking lot as there are none along the trail.
Bloggers note that Yongnuni Oreum offers different charms throughout the seasons, with green grass in spring and summer, and silver grass in autumn and winter. They suggest planning visits during silver grass season based on whether the goal is a morning stroll or afternoon photography, and recommend bringing sunscreen and hats due to limited shade. From the summit, visitors can enjoy expansive views of Seongsan Ilchulbong and Udo Island.
