The newly established monorail at Cheongnamdae is currently generating significant buzz among visitors. It provides a convenient 7-minute ride to the First Observatory, replacing the previous 645 steps, thus enhancing the Cheongnamdae experience. This new attraction is expected to draw even more visitors, especially during the autumn foliage season.
Monorail tickets cannot be booked online and must be purchased separately at an internal ticket office after entering Cheongnamdae. The general fare is 5,000 KRW, while children, seniors, disabled individuals, and Chungbuk residents pay 3,000 KRW. The monorail operates from 9:30 AM to 6:00 PM (until 5:00 PM in December-January) at 20-minute intervals, with 20 daily runs. On weekends, tickets may sell out quickly, so checking times and purchasing upon arrival is recommended. Only foldable strollers are allowed, and pets are not permitted.
Bloggers shared tips for an optimal experience, suggesting sitting in car 1 for the ascent and car 2 for the descent to avoid obstructions from the outdoor unit and fully enjoy the scenery. They noted that staff provide explanations during the ascent in car 1, making the ride more engaging. The monorail's moderate speed makes it comfortable even for those with a fear of heights, allowing visitors to appreciate Cheongnamdae's natural beauty on the way to the First Observatory.
