The Suwon Hwaseong Media Art festival, titled 'Saebitdongrak: Suwon Hwaseong, Blooming with Light,' is taking place from September 19 to October 6, encompassing areas around Hwaseomun, Jangan Park, and Janganmun. This night festival illuminates the stories of people connected to Hwaseong Fortress through light and video, with the main performance 'Light of Destiny' at Hwaseomun being a highlight. The festival operates daily from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM, and the main performance runs for approximately 35 minutes at 7:30 PM, 8:30 PM, and 9:30 PM.
Seating at Hwaseomun is available for free on weekdays on a first-come, first-served basis without prior reservation. On weekends, public holidays, and the day before holidays, tickets cost 5,000 KRW per person and can be booked via Naver. Reservations began on August 21 and include general seating, family zones, and wheelchair-accessible seats. Free viewing is also possible without a reserved seat. After enjoying the Hwaseomun performance, visitors can explore the Media Park at Jangan Park.
Bloggers shared their impressions, highlighting the grandeur and beauty of the 'Light of Destiny' main performance at Hwaseomun. The scenes featuring sky lanterns filling the fortress walls and whales swimming through the air were particularly memorable. Families with children appreciated the comfort of the family zone. For parking, the Jangan-dong Public Parking Lot was used, but it is advised to arrive early, especially for evening shows, due to potential congestion.
