SEVENTEEN member Vernon, whose birth name is Choi Hansol, has recently completed his basic military training in Korea. His decision to fulfill military service in South Korea has garnered significant attention, particularly because he holds dual Korean and American citizenship, making him one of the first K-pop idols with dual nationality to do so.

Vernon, born in New York City to a Korean father and a French-American mother, enlisted on August 20 and completed his basic training on September 11. He is scheduled to serve as a social service worker, with an anticipated discharge date of May 19, 2028. On the day of his enlistment, he released a self-composed song titled 'I'll Be Back' for his fans, reflecting his strong sense of Korean identity despite his mixed heritage and upbringing in Korea.
