As autumn arrives, various attractions in Palgongsan, Daegu and Gyeongbuk, are drawing visitors. Palgongsan Gatbawi, known as a prayer site for wishes, is particularly popular for hiking in the cool autumn weather. Designated as Korea's 23rd National Park in December 2023, Palgongsan offers not just hiking trails but also a blend of history, culture, and nature.
Gatbawi, named for the hat-like stone on the Buddha statue's head, is frequented by those wishing for academic success, employment, health, and more. There are two main routes to Gatbawi: the Gwanamsa course from Daegu and the Seonbonsa course from Gyeongsan, allowing visitors to choose based on their physical condition. The Shinsunggyeom General Shrine, located at the entrance of Palgongsan, offers free parking and admission, making it ideal for a light autumn stroll. It can also be combined with the Bulguk-dong Ancient Tombs for a day trip. Bukjijangsa Temple, less known than Donghwasa or Pagyesa, is a hidden gem offering a tranquil atmosphere for contemplation amidst its pine forest path and houses various cultural assets, including the designated Treasure, Jijangjeon.
Bloggers recommend experiencing the magnificent views from Gatbawi's summit and making wishes, noting it's a great place for reflection even without religious intent. The Shinsunggyeom General Shrine is praised for its ample free parking and the opportunity to take vibrant photos on clear days. Bukjijangsa Temple is highlighted as a peaceful spot to enjoy nature and culture away from crowds, with its pine forest path being a particularly charming feature.
