The National Museum of Korea's goods shop, 'MD's Shop' (뮷즈), is currently gaining significant popularity among both domestic and international visitors for its modern reinterpretation of traditional Korean aesthetics. Following the success of the Pensive Bodhisattva miniature, sophisticated goods inspired by traditional artifacts have transformed the shop into a sought-after destination for the 2030 generation and foreign tourists.
There are three MD's Shop locations within the National Museum of Korea: the main shop next to the Great Hall on the first floor of the West Wing, offering the widest variety; Shop 2 in the center of the permanent exhibition hall on the first floor, focusing on exhibition-related items and books; and the MD's Brand Promotion Hall on the third floor of the permanent exhibition hall, showcasing the MD's brand. Products range from Pensive Bodhisattva miniatures (starting at 65,000 KRW), Daedongyeojido posters (8,000 KRW), celadon tumblers (25,000 KRW), Hojakdo wine stoppers (38,000 KRW), keyrings (10,000 KRW), and magnets (starting at 2,500 KRW).
Bloggers note that the MD's Shop offers a delightful browsing experience due to its reinterpretation of traditional artifacts into practical, everyday designs. Many find the Pensive Bodhisattva and Goryeo celadon-themed goods even more appealing in person. However, some express that certain higher-priced items feel expensive, and occasionally, the overall selection did not fully meet their purchasing expectations.
