EXO's iconic song "Growl" continues to be a hot topic in South Korea, primarily due to its challenging choreography. This has been highlighted by a recent episode of "2 Days & 1 Night Season 4," where even skilled dancer Lee Joon struggled to replicate it, creating a viral moment. Simultaneously, the song's enduring appeal is evident as junior K-pop group NuEra featured a "Growl" cover during their recent European tour.
On the September 6th broadcast of KBS 2TV's "2 Days & 1 Night Season 4," cast members participated in a dance quiz. Lee Joon, known for his dance skills, successfully copied choreography for SHINee's "Ring Ding Dong" and ILLIT's "It's Me," as well as KARA's "Mister." However, when EXO's "Growl" came on, he expressed difficulty, stating "What is this? I don't know. It's hard," and failed to reproduce the moves. Separately, NuEra concluded their "CATCH THE WAVE" European tour on June 2nd, visiting 5 cities including Amsterdam, Berlin, Warsaw, Milan, and Cologne. During this tour, they performed special cover stages, including EXO's "Growl" and aespa's "Black Mamba," alongside their own tracks like "POP IT LIKE" and "WARNING!".
Local bloggers noted that "Growl's" power was truly showcased when it stumped even the confident "Challenge Man" Lee Joon, adding an unexpected comedic element to the show. They observed that the song's complex choreography, despite being well-known, still poses a significant hurdle, making it a benchmark for dance ability. NuEra's decision to include "Growl" in their setlist further underscores its status as a classic K-pop track that resonates with international audiences and allows junior groups to demonstrate their performance prowess.
