Suwon Hwaseong Haenggung is attracting visitors with its reenactment of King Jeongjo's Royal Parade and various experiential programs. A large-scale reenactment of King Jeongjo's Royal Parade is scheduled for October 4, 2026, extending from Seoul to Ansan, Suwon, and Hwaseong. In Suwon, visitors can witness the procession entering Hwaseong Haenggung Square via Janganmun Gate, along with the Suwon Hwaseong Parade.
Hwaseong Haenggung offers a variety of engaging activities for children. The 24 Martial Arts demonstration, held in front of Sinpungnu, is a popular dynamic performance featuring swords and spears. A traditional play zone within the palace allows for continuous participation in traditional games. Additionally, archery experiences are available at Suwon Hwaseong Yeonmudae for those aged 7 and above, and riding the Hwaseong Eochas (palace car) is also a favorite among children.
During the Suwon Hwaseong Cultural Festival, Hwaseong Haenggung also features a night opening, offering a unique ambiance. Visitors can leisurely enjoy the night scenery by following a reverse route, starting from Yongyeon and Banghwasuryujeong, then walking along the fortress wall towards Hwaseong Haenggung. For viewing the Royal Parade, it may be more convenient to watch from along the procession route rather than the starting point, and a leisurely walk along the fortress wall to soak in the festival atmosphere is also recommended.
