SEVENTEEN member Vernon made headlines by releasing his self-composed solo track, 'I'll Be Back,' on August 20, 2026, the very day he enlisted for military service. This unexpected musical farewell, a direct message to his fans, transformed a personal transition into a significant event, resonating deeply with his supporters.
The song, an electronic track infused with pop sensibilities, carries a clear message of reunion and was first unveiled during the '2026 VERNON THE 8 V8 LIVE' concert in July 2026. Vernon, who debuted as SEVENTEEN's main rapper in 2015, also engaged in unit activities, forming 'V8' with member The8 in June 2026 before his enlistment as a public service worker. He is scheduled for discharge on May 19, 2028.
Local bloggers expressed that the timing of the song's release, coupled with its title, created a particularly moving and meaningful gesture for fans. They described it as a thoughtful gift that eased the sadness of his temporary departure, with many wishing for his healthy service and return, echoing the song's promise.
